Infortrend adds new FC-4G to SATA RAID arrays to product line.
RAID storage expert Infortrend is unveiling new 2U models in the company’s 4Gbit per second Fibre Channel (FC-4G) to SATA-II RAID subsystem line at COMPUTEX TAIPEI this week. Available in single controller, 8- or 12-bay systems (the EonStor® A08F-G2422 and ES A12F-G2422, respectively), the new arrays combine the high performance, reliability, and scalability of FC-4G host interfaces with the low cost and high capacity benefits of 3Gbit per second (3Gbps) SATA drive technology.
Employing Infortrend’s renowned, custom ASIC266 dual PCI-X architecture, a 600MHz PowerPC RISC CPU, and FC-4G host channels, the ES A08F-G2422 and ES A12F-G2422 double the storage network performance speed yet maintain backward compatibility with 1Gb and 2Gb systems. These entry-level, SAN-ready subsystems provide clustering capabilities for DAS, FC SAN, and clustered server storage applications requiring dedicated bandwidth and are well suited for imaging and archiving or secondary storage in large organizations.
In addition to delivering enhanced performance, these arrays are among the first of Infortrend’s systems that meet the standards of the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive enacted by the European Union. This directive aims to protect human health and the environment by restricting the use of certain hazardous materials in new electronic equipment.
“The A08F-G2422 and A12F-G2422 lead the industry trend for greater storage capacity and accelerated storage data paths, making them ideal for high-bandwidth applications such as high performance computing, medical imaging, and video streaming,” said Tony Chu, president of Infortrend Corporation. “We designed these systems using only RoHS-approved materials to make sure they meet the standards for a clean and healthy environment.”
